Things to see in Washington D.C.

This city Washington D.C. is named after George Washington which was the first president of the USA. It is the capitol city and has many recognizable US government buildings such as the white house, and the capitol hill building which appear almost daily on TV. In addition, you will find the Washington monument and Arlington cemetery. The main area to visit is The Mall which is basically a large park with little traffic. There are many museums, such as the national gallery of art and the Smithsonian national air and space museum located near the Mall. All of these museums are free to get in, making it easy to quickly drop in and if you don't like it, you can just leave again. Off course there are several monument dedicated to the battle's fought by the US army such as the Vietnam and Korean memorial. Because Washington D.C. is home to the US government there are also impressive memorials to the presidents Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson. Because the tourist attractions are located around a large park, the Mall, walking around is pleasant, although you will need to cover quite a distance if you want to see it all. What is actually really nice about Washington is that the center is well designed. All the buildings fit in very well and given the large space you tend not to walk between the crowds. It also provides some really good photo opportunities. It can get busy when there is a protest going on.
