Sightseeing in Sheffield

The city which famous for iron production is Sheffield and is located in the north of England. Unfortunately the cities has been through some rough times, but several revitalization projects have been put in place and Sheffield nowadays looks better than that it has before. The city is a mixture of old and new buildings.

Some of the sights to see include the Millennium galleries, the winter garden, the peace gardens, Graves gallery, Tudor square with the Lyceum theater, the city hall, the train station and the central library. Especially the Sheffield town hall with the adjacent Peace gardens are a must see and represents some of the best historical architecture in this city. To get a fair impression of the history of Sheffield you can follow the Norfolk heritage trail which is a 5 km walk from Manor Lodge to Sheffield cathedral.

You probably will spent only one day in this city which is enough to see it all. It is also closely located to cities such as Manchester and Nottingham, so it would make an ideal stop if you are travelling around England. Sheffield has the advantage that it is located near the Peak district, so if you are up for a bit of nature and get some fresh air, it is easy to get out.
