A visit to Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and also feels like it when walking around the city center. The city center has several landmarks such as Glasgow royal concert hall, St. George's Tron church, Glasgow gallery of modern art and the royal exchange. The central location in Glasgow is George square. In the middle you can find the Walter Scot monument and on the side the imposing City Chambers. This has become the living heart of the city and there will be many people and regularly several activities going on. All these sights are well within walking distance.

Walking around the city is the best way to see everything. There are many old buildings which are beautifully designed, but do not have a name. There are also several small churches such as St. Aloysius church and St. Columba church of Scotland which are not on every city map. The grid like pattern of the city center does offer many opportunities to take a different route. One sight which is a must see is the Glasgow university. The university has expanded over the years, but it's original old building still stands. This is a grand building with an historical look and has courtyards in the middle. There is also a museum located inside. Because Glasgow university is located on top of a hill which allows you to see across the area. Nearby the university are the Glasgow museum and art gallery and Kelvin hall located. These sights are a bit of a walk away from the city center but it is only a short ride bus bus or taxi.

Glasgow is well connected to the rest of the UK. It has its own airport and is connected by rail to several other cities, including Edinburgh. There are a few options for day trips from Glasgow such as Stirling with its famous castle or the town Perth.
