Sightseeing in Wiesbaden

About 38 kilometres away from Frankfurt lies the city of Wiesbaden. It is a medium sized city in Germany with about 275.000 inhabitants, but is a remarkably friendly city. The main sight is as with so many smaller cities, is the central church which is called the Market church and built in a unique style. It's location on the market square puts it in a nice setting.

Another sight to visit is the palace square with the former Duchal palace. Some of the other sights to see include the town hall, the Hessen state theater  the Kurhaus and the St. Bonifatius church. Wiesbaden is a remarkably pleasant city to walk around. For a nice walk visit the Neroberg. From there you get a nice view over the city of Wiesbaden and its a pleasant green environment. This place can also be visited using the Nerobergbahn funical (sort of tram) if you do not want to walk. The sight on the Neroberg is St. Elizabeth's church which is an Russian orthodox church which brings a bit of added culture to Wiesbaden. From the top of Neroberg you also get a good view of the surrounding of Wiesbaden.

Wiesbaden is connected to other cities via its railway so it can be easily reached from the nearby cities of Frankfurt and Mainz. As it is located in an area where grapes are grown and wine is produced it is worthwhile to visit Wiesbaden when there is a wine festival going on.
