Koblenz travel pictures

Introduction to Koblenz

Koblenz is a small city in Germany at the location where the two rivers Rhine and Moselle meet. This meeting point has made it easy as a tourist attraction and this point is marked by the Deutsches Eck. This sight is also the location of the William I monument. The statue has been replaced by a copy due to damage in the second world war and is accessible for visitors.

More history of Koblenz can be found at Fortress Ehrenbreitstein. It is a medieval fort and provides good views over the town of Koblenz and its surroundings. The fortress also houses a museum. The fortress can be reached by cable car which is one of the longest in Europe. The town has a small historical center and is home to the Basilica of St. Castor, the Military museum the Electoral palace and the fountain Schangel-Brunnen.

Koblenz is a medium sized city with about 100.000 people living there and its town center is easy to navigate by foot. It is located in the mid-west of Germany and close to large cities such as Frankfurt and Cologne making is easy to reach by train. If you are interested in locally produced wine, Koblenz is located in Germany's wine producing part of the Rhine and Mosel Rivers.
