Czech Republic

Czech Republic, a country with many intact medieval sights

The Czech Republic lies in the heart of Eastern Europe and is surrounded by Poland, Slovakia, Austria and Germany. It used to be one country with Slovakia, but they split in 1993. There are roughly 10.5 million people living in the Czech Republic. The main attraction of the country is the historical city Prague which is known throughout the whole world for its charming city center. The architecture of the buildings in the Czech Republic are similar to those found in neighboring cities, but feel more charming. Other Czech cities that attract tourists include Brno, Liberec, Cesky Krumlov and Karlovy Vary. Some of its other sights include the Karlstejn castle and the nature reserve Bohemian paradise which are both just outside of Prague. To get around the Czech Republic, there are some internal flights, but easiest is by train or by bus as distances are relatively short. It is also well connected to its neighboring countries by train. There are also some culinary attractions to this country as it is famous for its dumplings and for its beer brewing skills. What Belgium is to Western Europe, is the Czech Republic to Eastern Europe, and many fine brews can be found throughout the whole country. The weather in the Czech Republic is similar to many of the eastern European countries with summers comfortably warm, but winters tend to be cold and receive a fair bit of snow. The currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech crown. The Czech republic is also a member of the EU.
