Things to see in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is the city with the most skyscrapers in the world. It is part of China, but because in former years it has been part of the British Empire it is now a special administrative region within China. Hong Kong has a different feeling than the rest of China because the majority of skyscrapers are older and the rest of China is more modern. Still, Hong Kong feels different than other western cities as it is a truly Asian city.

The old city center is located around the legislative council building and statue square in the Central district. In this area most of its historical sights can be found which includes the Sir Thomas Jackson statue. Although Hong Kong has a large history, many of the old buildings have been replaced and as a result the city lacks a proper cultural city center  For the best view in the world, take the train up to Victoria Peak for a lookout over the Central district, the Victoria harbor and Kowloon.

There is still a bit of history left in Hong Kong which can be seen for example at the Chi Lin nunnery and the Nan Lian garden. Another temple which is interesting is the Wong Tai Sin temple. There are many modern skyscrapers around the city but the ones that stand out are probably the Bank of China the Tow International finance center. To see the Skyline of Hong Kong, head over to Kowloon from which you will see the classic view. A small landmark in Kowloon is the old clock tower. To get around, the metro system in Hong Kong is easy to navigate and will take you to most of the important places in Hong Kong.

For a day trip out of Hong Kong, consider a boat trip to Macao which is only one hour away. For some easy entertainment consider visiting Disney Land. The weather is seasonal with warm summer and cold winters although there can be heavy storms. Because of its history and importance for business Hong Kong is connected to most countries and you can easily get a flight to the major cities in Europe, the USA, Asia and the rest of the world.
